My Approach

I am committed to offering therapy within a safe, confidential space, with warmth, care, empathy and a respect for clients’ individuality and unique experience. These qualities, I believe, help build a trusting, collaborative relationship which are fundamental to a positive and successful therapeutic process.

As a relationship focused Integrative Psychotherapist I have an awareness that our relationships past and present play a fundamental part in our well-being and that our specific childhood experience has an influence on our lives today. My psychotherapy and counselling approach draws from many theories such as Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Person Centred and Gestalt Therapy. These are integrated into my practice to suit each clients individual needs as we work together during the therapeutic process.

I understand that deciding to see a therapist can be a big decision. If you are struggling or feeling overwhelmed reaching out can be a very positive experience.

If we work together, as a relational therapist I will respect your needs and unique experience. We will explore your presenting issues and discover some of your unconscious processes, enabling you to gain greater understanding of your inner world, your patterns of behaviour, your relational needs, your feelings and emotions experienced and how your body may be impacted. On this journey of self discovery, together we can help you gain awareness of yourself and your relationships with others, creating the possibility of healing and change.

Apart from offering therapy in person I am experienced in working on line if required or when necessary.

Sue Holbrook uses a person centred approach with models such as TA, CBT, Gestalt and mindfulness

About me

I regularly practice yoga and mindfulness. I enjoy swimming in the sea throughout the year and watercolour painting. I appreciate the beautiful countryside while walking my dogs and I am very passionate about animals.

In the midst of change we often discover wings we never knew we had.

Soulful reflections

I offer counselling for a range of issues ....

… including, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Domestic Abuse, Historic Childhood Neglect/Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Trauma,  Relationship issues, Self Esteem, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bereavement, Life Transitions.

Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
